Will of Hamilton Smith (b 1817)

I, Hamilton Smith, of the county of St. Louis in the state of Missouri, being of sound mind and in good health and being aware of the uncertainty of this fitful life, and being desirous that my worldly goods for the possession of which I am thankful to my creator, should be rightful to be disposed of, I therefore publish this as my last will and desire and testament. 1St, after payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses, I give and devise to my beloved wife, Jane Smith, all my real estate located in the city of St. Louis and county of St. Louis, in the state of Missouri, to have and to hold the same to her, the said Jane Smith as long as she may live, and after the death of my said wife, Jane Smith, said real estate shall be equally divided between her and my relations. I hereby appoint my wife, Jane Smith my sole executrix of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this sixteenth day of July 1861. Hamilton Smith signed and declared by the above named Hamilton Smith to be his last will and testament in the presence of us which at his request, and in his presence, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
