Jean Chambers Obituary Condolences Jean Snodgrass Chambers died peacefully in her home on March 13, 2015. A native-born San Franciscan, Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Gladstone Snodgrass and Cordelia Kent Smith Snodgrass, her brother, Warren Harold Snodgrass, and her sister, Constance Snodgrass Doolittle. Jean's family was most important to her, and she had many lifelong friends, to whom she was devoted. An accomplished Impressionist painter who had studied in Paris, Jean also had a passion for riding horses. She and her husband, Frank G. Chambers, preceding her in death, both supporters of open spaces in Marin, most enjoyed riding on their ranch in San Anselmo for many years. They traveled worldwide, including to China, Africa, and India, and took many camping trips on horseback, most notably across Australia. A lady of elegance and grace, Jean also possessed great business acumen and was a woman of true grit. Jean loved dogs as well as horses and always had one or more cherished companions throughout her life. An appreciator of all things beautiful and natural, she was a talented gardener with a focus on roses. Jean's love and loyalty sorely will be missed by family and friends. In memory of Jean, contributions may be made to Canine Companions for Independence and Planned Parenthood Northern California. A private service celebrating Jean's life will be held at a future date.
