Funeral service for Mrs. Lewis Morris, well known Greenville woman who died at 2 o'clock Sunday morning were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Jamer-Coker-Peters Chapel. Mrs. Morris had been ill several months.
Born in Benton, Mississippi,, Mrs. Morris,the former Maude Grace Middleton, was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Rufus M. Middleton, prominent pioneers of that state. She was educated in Port Gibson Female College, Port Gibson, Mississippi, and was known as one of Greenville's most charming hostesses. Her home at 3214 Stonewall Street had been the scene of many affairs of a civic and social nature. She was married to Lewis Morris, nephew and foster son of Mrs. J.D. Lassiter. Surviving are two children, Johnnie Mayes Morris of Galveston and Frank Morris of Chicago. Her husband and two brothers, John D. Middleton and F. E. Middleton preceded her in death (they also lived in Texas)
