A Christmas gift

In 1929, Susie's husband , Edward Samuel Tew, had lost his shoe business to the Depression.  Susie's sister, Vilate was very adept at winning contests with her poems and witty sayings.  She won a 3 foot high red metal radio that was edged in gold leaf.  She and her husband Henry Raile gave it to Susie and her family for Christmas.  They would have had no Christmas otherwise, and Susie's daughter, Wanda remembers this gift with fondness.
