Note

Hope was my maternal grandmother. Where did you find a picture of my grandparents? Is it the one on Ancestry? If not I would love to see it. My mother told me that Jean P. Wirtz spelled his name with a "z", but Hope spelled her maiden name "Wirt". I don't know his middle name. There was only a middle initial on the marriage certificate. In fact, I didn't know his given name before I saw that. I believe he was from Germany. My mother told me he was her mother's step-father. We don't have any information on Hope's father except that he died when she was very young. If you have heard anything at all about him, I would be very interested to learn it. Wirtz died when Hope was a child and Hattie moved to Maine, where her sister, Ursula was living then. She married Ernest Spencer when Hope was a young teenager.
