Note: Carlisle, Dec. 14. - James Oliver Harlan, 73, farmer of Carlisle R.D. 1, and his sister, Mrs. John Kennedy, 63, Trenton, Missouri, died this week less than a day apart in their homes, separated by over 1000 miles. Carlisle, Dec. 14. - James Oliver Harlan, 73, farmer of Carlisle R.D. 1, and his sister, Mrs. John Kennedy, 63, Trenton, Missouri, died this week less than a day apart in their homes, separated by over 1000 miles. Mr. Harlan died Thursday evening at 6 o'clock at his home along the Harrisburg pike, in Middlesex township, after an illness of only three days. He was employed for nineteen years as a government farmer at the old Carlisle Indian School. In addition to his widow, who was Miss Phoebe Myers, he is survived by a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. Mrs. Kennedy died late Wednesday night. Funeral services will be held at her late home and burial will be made in Missouri, She is survived by her husband, a brother and a sister, Willis Harlan and Mrs. Donlon. Both Mr. Harlan and Mrs. Kennedy are natives of Newville. Mr. Harlan spent his entire life in Cumberland county (sic), and Mrs. Kennedy has lived in the West for many years.
