Text: Jacksonville Journal Robert Smith died Sunday afternoon at his home, 1146 Hardin Ave. Mr. Smith was born in Londonderry, Ireland, 1821 and came to this country in 1834. He settled in Jacksonville with his family in 1860. He made the brick for his home. He had a stroke of paralysis several years ago and died in consequence of a fall. Mr. Smith joined the Reformed Presbyterian Church early in life and at the time of his death was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He had been at church services the Sunday before death came. He leaves behind a wife, 3 daughters and 2 sons. The funeral occurs at the family residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Text: Jacksonville Daily Journal Mrs. Mary Ann Smith passed away at the family residence, 1146 Hardin Ave, Sunday morning at 9 o’clock at the age of 78 years. Her maiden name was Bonner and she was born in County Cork, Ireland, January 6, 1830 and came to this country when 16 years. She married Robert Smith on November 14, 1849, at St. Louis who preceded her in death a number of years. Mr. Smith used a She was a woman loved by all who knew her. She is survived by the following children: Robert Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. Mary Lindsay, Mrs. Jennie Lindsay, George Smith, and miss Fannie Smith, all of this city. One son, David, died several years ago. Funeral services will be conducted at the family residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, in charge of Rev. L.H.Davis and burial will be made in Diamond Grove Cemetery. |

From the information found in the 1910 Federal Census it appears that David Robert smith moved to Salt Lake City and here he was a construction superintendent. He married Anna Josephine White in 1907 (estimated). Anna emigrated to the US in 1890 (abt 6 years old) Both David Robert and his parents were born in Illinois. Anna and her parents were born in Ireland. As of 1910 they had no children. They lived in Ward I of Salt Lake city in a rented home. |

From information found in the 1930 Federal Census, it appears that David was living in St. Louis Missouri with his wife, Valla. They were renting and apartment for $55 per month. He was a salesman for a company whose name is indecipherable on the census record. He was born in Illinois, as were his parents, and Valla and her parents were born in Missouri. |
